Big Games and Small Squads

Matt Crowell's injury looks more serious than I thought yesterday, when I neglected to mention it. In fact, he now looks likely to miss the whole of August and September. This is slightly worrying for Wrexham fans, as the Smallest Squad In The Football League® is stretched even thinner. Denis Smith may have discovered a way to get more out of his captain, however. Following some success against Stoke City, Darren Ferguson may be employed in a more attacking role in the upcoming games against Port Vale, Bristol Rovers and/or Liverpool. The timing of the latter match means that some Wrexham players may have to play in two games in as many days, not something that is conducive to avoiding further injuries.
