Having Your Head Screwed On (& Your Knee Cut Open)...
Following his failure to attend a fans' meeting at the Miners' Institute, Alex Hamilton has again raised the ire of Wrexham fans by threatening not to allow football matches to take place at the Racecourse Ground (which he owns) if fans continue to voice their disapproval of his redevelopment plans. Well, if Mr Hamilton really wants to secure the club's financial future and increase attendances this season, he could start by not alienating the fans.
The fans themselves have now come up with a rival proposal for the club's future. The plan, which involves the construction of luxury flats valued at around £120,000 each. It is hoped that the sale of these flats could raise as much as £16m, clearing Wrexham's debts and leaving Mr. Hamilton himself with a tidy profit, estimated at £4m. Personally, I know which proposal I would prefer.
In other news, Carlos Edwards goes under the knife this week, for an operation to repair ruptured ligaments in his knee. Edwards, who was chosen in last year's Division Two Team of the Season, is expected to be out for around 6 months. Andy Dibble should still be around when Carlos returns, as he is set to sign a new 12-month deal this week. Dibble is expected to travel to Edgar Street for the friendly against Hereford United, which may also see Chris Armstrong, Craig Morgan and Steven Roberts return from injury.
