Hull 2 Wrexham 2 (Carling Cup - Wrexham win 3-1 on Penalties)
Wrexham moved into the second round of the Carling Cup after a close match at the KC Stadium where penalty kicks were needed to separate the teams. Andy Dibble was the hero, saving three of Hull's penalties. Wrexham had in fact lead twice, the first time within 14 minutes of kick-off, when Hector Sam headed Chris Armstrong's cross into the Hull net. The lead lasted less than ten minutes, though, as Michael Keane equalised for the home side. Wrexham still went in at half-time with a lead, though, after Darren Ferguson fired in from close range after receiving the ball from Hector Sam. Ryan France forced extra-time with his goal in the 66th minute, but no-one could find the goal in what John Motson calls 'overtime', so it came down to penalties. After Darren Ferguson missed Wrexham's first spot-kick, Dibble saved Hull's second, third and fourth penalties to put Wrexham through.
