To Hull & Back
Tonight Wrexham travel to the KC Stadium take on Hull City in the Carling Cup. Some are suggesting that Hull boss Peter Taylor will experiment with his starting line-up, starting with some players previously confined to the bench. Boaz Myhill and Junior Lewis are definitely unavailable for the Tigers anyway with back and knee injuries respectively. Wrexham's squad for the match, which is likely to be played in difficult conditions amongst thunderstorms and powerful winds, is bereft of Jim Whitley and Craig Morgan, who both need further time to recover from their injuries. The starting line-up itself could be similar to that against Port Vale, or radically different, depending on how seriously Denis Smith decides to take the Carling Cup this season. The League Cup has never really been a competition that Wrexham have done well in, in stark contrast to our giant-killing exploits in the FA Cup, and it would be nice to have a run this season. On the other hand, though, Wrexham's fixture list is likely to be packed if they do progress significantly, and such as small first team squad is not well equipped for playing twice a week on a regular basis.
