Southend 0 Wrexham 2 (aet)

Well, it was almost worth the trip to Cardiff just to see Gary Bennett hanging around with the
Wrexham fans. And it was certainly worth the trip to see the scenes of sheer delight, relief and
perhaps even (maybe, just maybe) optimism that flowed around the Millenium Stadium after
the final whistle.
Ben Foster was outstanding for the duration of the game, and Mark Jones gave a drive to the
midfield that looked to have disappeared as normal time drew on without a goal. At times,
Wrexham looked almost afraid of shooting, but they finally took the lead in the 99th minute
through the head of Juan Ugarte (who else?), reacting the bestl to a Dennis Lawrence effort,
also a header, coming friom a corner.
Fans and coaching staff then faced anervous wait, but Darren Ferguson settled these nerves
(and entertained the crowd with his hilarious forward-roll celebration) by tucking away a
rebounded shot with only two minutes remaining.
