Newry City 1 Wrexham 1 (Friendly)

Wrexham's flight out to Belfast was delayed for two hours, and it seems that some of the Wrexham team hadn't quite arrived until some time into their friendly against Newry City, needing a late(ish) equaliser to avoid defeat.
Wrexham did have the better of the game overall, but the home side took the lead through substitute Damien Whitehead with 20 minutes left following a scrappy period.
embarrassment was avoided, however, eight minutes later: Simon Spender put Dean Bennett in a position to walk in the equaliser.
Hopefully, the squad's future performances in Ireland will be lifted by the arrival of Darren Ferguson, who stayed behind to be with his wife when she was rushed into hospital on Sunday. Her condition happily now appears to be less serious than previously thought.
As the club's official website reports, two other Wrexham squad members may also soon need to spend more time with their wives: both Andy Holt and Dave Bayliss are expecting new additions to their families in the near future.
