It's Nearly Here...

The new season is less than 24 hours away now, and it's having an effect on my mood. The annual August optimism has overwhelmed all my pre-season concerns, at least for the time being.

Also likely to be in an upbeat move is Andy Holt, whose wife gave birth to a baby girl yesterday. There is expected to be another addition to Wrexham's extended family tomorrow, with Dave Bayliss' wife due to give birth as well. Bayliss himself is hoping for a delayed birth, though, so he can make his competitive debut for Wrexham - taking his place alongside Shaun Pejic and Dennis Lawrence in a three-man defence against Boston United.

Matt Crowell is hoping to recover from his recurring knee injury in time for tomorrow's game, but Jim Whitley is definitely unavailable. Better news comes from Mike Williams and Michael Jones, who are both expected to take places on the bench tomorrow.

As for Boston, Noel Whelan is set for his debut, hamstring permitting, but Steve Melton is still recovering from his back operation and will not feature.
