Sheffield Steel

Wrexham are today preparing for a Sheffield double-header, which sees them take on United at the Racecourse in the Carling Cup, before playing host to Wednesday in the League on Saturday. For the Cup match, Andy Dibble and Dennis Lawrence are still out with the injuries they picked up against Tranmere, and both Hector Sam and Stephen Roberts are doubtful. Chris Armstrong will also be unavailable, as he starts his suspension following his two yellows in the Tranmere game.

Off the field, there has been yet more speculation about takeover bids and housing developments, with former chairman Pryce Griffiths now believed to be directly involved in the battle for the club's future. He was quoted in Wales On Sunday as saying "I won't let the club die". It has also emerged that Wrexham have formally been given 'notice to quit' the Racecourse.

This, by the way, is my first update since I lost permanent access to the internet. I am now reliant on internet cafes, friends' computers, teletext and the pigeon post for Wrexham news, and for making updates. This may mean fewer, and less frequent, updates for a while, and problems if your computer isn't pigeon-compatible.
